LABORATORY MATERIALS TESTING

Materials testing performed in the Black Eagle Consulting laboratory is performed by technicians that are certified by the Nevada Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (NAQTC) in sampling and density, aggregates, and asphalt. In addition, Portland cement concrete is tested by American Concrete Institute (ACI)-certified concrete strength testing technicians.

Black Eagle Consulting laboratory is accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Our lab(s) have the ability to perform the following tests:

Hot Mix Asphalt – Gradation, Bulk Specific Gravity ( Regular or Parrafin), Maximum Specific Gravity (Rice), Marshall Compaction & Testing, Percent Air Voids, AC Content by Ignition.

Soils – Particle-Size Analysis/Hydrometer, Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit, Standard Proctor, Specific Gravity, Sand Equivalent, Modified Proctor, R-Value, California Bearing Ratio, Unconfined Compressive Strength of Cohesive Soil, Consolidation, Direct Shear, Settlement, Moisture Content, Soil Classification, Wash (Finer than No. 200).

Aggregate – No. 200 Wash, Bulk Density & Voids in Aggregate, Organic Impurities, Sieve Analysis, Fine & Coarse Aggregate Specific Gravity, L.A. Abrasion, Sulfate Soundness, Clay Lumps & Friable Particles, Sand Equivalent, Total Evaporable Moisture Content, Flat & Elongated Particles, Fractured Particles.

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION & TESTING

Materials Testing: Field technicians at Black Eagle Consulting maintain ACI concrete field testing certification for sampling concrete, and Troxler nuclear density gauge certification for in-place density testing of soils and asphalt concrete. Our materials technicians also maintain NAQTC certification for all material disciplines.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION

Our non-destructive examination department performs radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant testing. Our phased array machine can do conventional UT, corrosion detection, flaw detection, and straight beam laminations with the capability for other testing per client request.

Our experience includes mainly pipeline projects and geothermal plants, but we also perform welder qualifications and testing on various other welding projects.
